Playland memories

Gone now for more than four decades, one of San Francisco’s lost treasures is the subject of “Remembering Playland at the Beach,” a documentary by Tom Wyrsch.

The 10-acre seaside amusement park, the home of Laffing Sal, the Big Dipper roller coaster and the Fun House, where, incredibly, kids slid down burnished wooden slides on burlap bags, now seems the nostalgic ideal of lost innocence and longer, pre-digital attention spans.

Sunday, August 31 at noon, with the director in attendance for a Q&A. $10. Sebastiani Theatre. 996.9756.
