A June 6 reception at The Epicurean Connection kicks off Gay Pride Month with art by Jeremy Novy, a piano bar, drag queens, beer, wine and more from 6 to 10 p.m. The San Francisco-based Novy has utilized stenciled street art to explore social and political issues.

In response to urban blight such as abandoned telephone booths and boarded up buildings, Novy overlays stenciled posters onto the disused objects to give them new life and bring art to the streets. Another intention is to bring gay imagery into the homophobic subculture of street artists by covering hateful and distasteful graffiti. In 2011 he curated the worlds first group queer street art exhibit called “A History of Queer Street Art” in San Francisco. Admission to the evening reception for “A Collection of Drag Queens and Koi Stencils” by Jeremy Novy is free. 122 W. Napa St. 935.7960.
