Sonoma Valley Hospital has received an A Rating Hospital Safety Score, the highest available, from The Leapfrog Group, a national initiative to encourage greater health care safety, quality and affordability.
It is the second instance of national recognition for the hospital’s safety practices recently, following last month’s announcement by Consumer Reports that SVH was ranked among the 15 safest hospitals in the country.
SVH scored well in a range of categories reflecting errors, accidents and injuries, all of which determine the level of patient safety, said Chief Quality Officer Leslie Lovejoy. “We are deeply committed to the safety of our patients and it’s gratifying to receive further confirmation that our many efforts in this area are being recognized,” she said.
The Leapfrog Group is a national employer-based coalition of companies advocating for improved transparency, quality and safety in hospitals. The survey included approximately 1,300 hospitals across the country, which in total serve more than half of the U.S. population and represent 62 percent of all hospital beds in the country.
