Landscape designer Maile Arnold will speak about “Shade Gardens and Planting Under Trees” at a Valley of the Moon Garden Club public meeting on Thursday, June 5.
Arnold will show how to plant a beautiful, water-wise garden in partial and full shade areas, and what type of trees allow for plantings under their canopies. Arnold, who has 40 years of experience as a landscape designer, is a proponent of organic, no-till gardening methods. She has appeared on a BBC garden show, is a teacher with San Francisco’s Strybing Arboretum, and her landscapes have been featured in “Sunset” magazine. Local Sonoma projects include The Lodge at Sonoma, and garden for Laura Chenel.
The evening begins with a 6:30 p.m. meet-and-greet, with refreshments and a plant raffle. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 which can be applied to a $20 membership. Sonoma Veterans Building, 126 First St, W. 337.3415.
