Playing out the ‘American Dream’

Perhaps best known as host of NPR’s “Jazz Alive” series and the PBS series “Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy,” author, musician and producer Ben Sidran has had a remarkable and influential career in jazz and rock and roll, having played keyboards with or produced such artists as Steve Miller, Mose Allison, Diana Ross, Boz Scaggs, Phil Upchurch, Tony Williams, Jon Hendricks, Richie Cole and Van Morrison. On Saturday, March 29, Congregation Shir Shalom presents an “An Evening with Ben Sidran: Jews, Music and the American Dream.’’

Tickets to the 7 p.m. show at Burlingame Hall, 252 W. Spain St., are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Dessert will be served, and wine available for purchase. Shir-shalom.org.
