The Duhks (pronounced Ducks) bring their unique fusion folk sound to Sonoma for a Friday, February 14 show. The band somehow and wonderfully blends soul, gospel, North American folk, Brazilian samba, old-time country string-band music, zydeco and Irish dance music, all fronted by versatile vocalist Jessee Havey.
They’ve recorded four studio albums and two live albums, receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group and winning a Juno award, the Canadian equivalent of the Grammy, for Best Roots and Traditional Album. The website Slant calls them “one of the most compelling acts on the roots scene” with “a unique style that places them at the frontlines of modern acoustic music.” 7:30 p.m. $20-$50. Andrews Hall, Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St. 938.4626. Svbo.org.
