Theatre Alliance hosts season preview party

Member groups of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance will announce their 2014 productions at “A Midwinter Celebration” on Sunday afternoon, January 26, in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center. Guest speakers include Reed Martin, co-founder and performer with the internationally known Reduced Shakespeare Company, and his wife Jane Martin, who heads the Sonoma Valley High School Drama department.

Rick Love will host the Rotary Stage activities, to include a musical number from the theater alliance’s newly formed Teens in Training program, as Cat Austin’s young ETC! troupe performs a song from “Rent.”

Alliance producers and directors will announce the upcoming Festival Of Theatre 2014, a variety of productions that will run eighth months in the newly remodeled Andrews Hall. “A great town deserves great theatre is our slogan, and we stand by it,” said Jaime Love, the alliance executive director.

The evening will end with a song from the Defying Gravity Gals, as Jaime Love joins Jeane MacPherson, Monica McKey, Lori Bailey and Kerry Daly.

“We are especially excited about this season, our fifth” Jaime Love said. “It should be smooth sailing this year, the renovations are done, and we have settled in and are committed to bringing Sonoma a great season of quality theatre.”

Appetizers and wine will be served from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Rotary Kitchen, Earl Blue on jazz piano. Guests will also have an opportunity to bid on auction items and purchase a chance to name a theatre seat in Andrews Hall. Tickets are $25 at 938.4626 or Svbo.org.
