Bank of Marin in Sonoma will host its first annual “Shred Day” on Wednesday, October 9, at 136 W. Napa St. from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event supports local recycling efforts and schools in Sonoma, with donations of new school supplies. The Bank will match donations with a $1,000 contribution to the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation.
At the event, A&P Records Management will be on site to shred paper documents, with a five box limit per participant. All documents are securely destroyed and the paper pulp will be recycled and used for new paper goods.
The community is encouraged to bring at least one package of new school supplies for students and teachers such as pens, pencils, crayons, paper, glue, and notebooks.
Bank of Marin held a similar event in Napa in August where more than 8,000 pounds of documents were shredded with 50 boxes of school suppliers were collected.
