Bark in the Park

Pets Lifeline’s second annual Bark in the Park and Pooch Promenade returns to Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, July 27. The event begins with a dog parade around the square, includes a fun and silly dog contest in front of City Hall and a post-party with music, wine, food and games for all ages.
The party includes a free 2 p.m. concert with Tommy Thomsen, a member of the Western Swing Hall of Fame.
Check-in and registration for the promenade will start at 7 a.m. at the Casa Grande Parking lot, behind the Toscano Hotel. There, the doggies will gather into contest categories and get ready to strut their stuff. The promenade will start at 9 a.m. with the precious pooches parading their way around the plaza to the judges podium.
The contest will consist of a variety of categories: the human and dog look-a-like contest; waggiest tail; shaggiest coat; and, or course, the creative costume contest. All dogs must be registered for the promenade portion, however participants are not required to enter the contest. Advance registration to the promenade is requested at Petslifeline.org or 996.4577 x110.
There will be pools, watering bowls, treats and misting stations along the promenade route, if it’s a hot morning. After the contest, there will be a bounty of festivities. “Even if promenading isn’t your thing, come join us as we party the day away with music, wine, food and games for all ages,” said Pets Lifeline’s Nancy King. “You can expect all kinds of fun activities for the whole family, canine members included.”
