It was the Wedding of the Century (the 19th, anyway), the day Count Agoston Harszthy’s two sons, Attila and Arpad, married two daughters of General Vallejo, Natalia and Jovita. One day and 150 years later, the auspicious occasion – the wine industry’s first mega-merger — will be celebrated at Buena Vista Winery in Sonoma, founded by the Harszthy in 1857.
A fundraiser for the Sonoma-Tokaj Sister City Committee, the June 2 reception includes Living Historians portraying all members of the Wedding Party, Buena Vista wine, music performed by the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra on period instruments, a buffet lunch, dancing, and general merriment. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. $100 general, $90 for wine club members. 18000 Old Winery Road. 800.325.2764.
