Walt Bowe and his wife Carlene share big smiles as their new acquisition arrives Tuesday from Atlanta, GA: a 1942 Curtiss P40-E Kittyhawk. The rare warbird joins Sonoma Valley Airport’s impressive collection of 1920s, 1930s and 1940s era aircraft (including another Kittyhawk) that Schellville is known for worldwide. “I can’t think of another place on earth where you will see two WWII P40’s gracing the skies, but right here in Sonoma,” said the airport’s Sheryl Carluccii. “Pretty cool.” The airport hosts a free Display Day the second Saturday of each month (Feb. 9) from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. 23980 Arnold Dr./Hwy 121.
