Kenneth Donald Hutchins is staring at the jail cell wall, looking at 25 years to life. The Sonoma man, 64, was arrested January 15 on four charges of sexual abuse involving his young grand niece. Police say there were repeated incidents at family homes. Will relatives or friends post the $2.2 million bail before his next court date of February 18?
Compared to that case, cops will take a good old-fashioned foot chase any day. When an officer pulled over an Acura on Jan. 25 – it had been reported stolen in Placer County – the occupants, a man and woman, leaped out of the car and ran away into the Springs neighborhood near East Thompson. The man tried to kick in the door of a random house, but took off again as police closed in. Despite a perimeter search, with canine unit, the sprinting suspects evaded capture. That was probably them, though, tooling away in a white 1997 Honda Civic — the car was reported stolen just then from a nearby Sierra Drive home.
The Sebastiani Theatre’s classic film series was set for “An Affair to Remember” on Feb. 18. But like Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in that flick, the distributor couldn’t make the promised date. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will be served instead.
David Noyes Wines has joined the resident wineries at the Margie Brooke’s Wine Annex, adjacent to her Community Café on West Napa Street. Noyce’s resume is impressively ringed with wine glass stains from Ridge Vineyards and stints in Monterey, Mendocino, France and the Kunde Estate Winery. He started his own label in 2001. The Annex is now the de-facto tasting room for six wineries, with Noyes joining Coturri, Hughes Family, Sharp Cellars, Schug Carneros Estate, and Trecini. The joint has live music each weekend, too. See you by the fire pit.
