Springtime Polyphony: Josquin and Monteverdi

The springtime Feast of Corpus Christi was the occasion for the most famous mass by the most famous composer of the Renaissance: the “Missa Pange lingua” by Josquin des Pres, written in the early 1500′s. A century later, Claudio Monteverdi harkened back to the Renaissance with his masterful “Missa in illo tempore.” Circa 1600 performs both of these magnificent works a cappella.
