Cook and Gallian take Council; Gorin in as Supe

In a tight race of three candidates separated by just 201 votes, David Cook and Laurie Gallian were elected to four-year terms on the Sonoma City Council in Tuesday’s election.
Cook, who owns a vineyard management company, finished first among the four candidates with 30.3 percent of the vote. Gallian, the incumbent, was just 36 votes behind, with 29.8 percent. Madolyn Agrimonti finished third with 27.6 percent, while the fourth candidate, Cameron Stuckey finished well back with 12.1 percent of the votes.
Gallian, who was appointed to the council in 2008, was the only incumbent on the ballot. The other seat opened when Joanne Sanders decided not to seek a third term.

In the race to represent Sonoma Valley on the five-member Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, Susan Gorin looks to be the winner pending the tally of uncounted mail ballots. She took 51.5 percent of the vote to John Sawyer’s 48.2 percent.
Gorin will leave the Santa Rosa City Council, on which she has served six years, to assume the seat vacated by the retirement of Valerie Brown.
