Young actresses handle ‘Curves’

Written by accomplished poet, playwright and screenwriter Josefina López, the play is a coming-of-age story about a young Mexican-American woman torn between her own ambitions and the expectations of her family.
The ambitious production is directed by Jane Martin.
Set in an East L.A. sewing factory, five Latina woman share their stories and secrets. As the script celebrates the power of the women and the unique bond they forge, it confronts cultural assumptions about beauty, marriage, and a woman’s role in society.
The cast of young performers includes Ana Dagio, Brenda Morgan, Maya Smoot, Monica Torres, Stephanie Reyes, Itzel Macedonia Santiago, Yaranara Morales, Cinthya Gamimo, Flor Suarez, Courtney, Bristow and Amelia Metzler.
Performances at the school’s Little Theatre are Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. On Sunday, October 9, there will be a 2 p.m. matinee. Admission at the door is $7 for Adults and $5 for students and seniors.
