After finishing last in 2010, the Lions completely turned the tables on the competition this season and emerged with the 2011 Sonoma Valley Babe Ruth League regular season title.

By virtue of their first-place finish, the Lions will have to be defeated twice to be eliminated from the post-season tournament, while the other three playoff teams (Moose, Cubs and Stallions) are saddled with single-elimination status for the tourney that will conclude this weekend as the league readies for All-Stars.

Tonight at Arnold Field at 5 p.m. the #2 versus #3 seed games will take place, with the American League Warriors taking on the Stallions followed by the National League tilt between the Cubs and Moose (8 p.m.).

The battle of #1 versus #4 seeds took place earlier in the week, with results unavailable at press time. Regardless of the outcomes of the earlier games, the top-seeded Lions and Bears automatically advance to tomorrow’s (Friday Jul. 1) Championship round with the American League ( 5 p.m.) tilt again preceding the National League contest (8 p.m.).
