Boy killed beneath pick-up truck

A four-year-old boy was run over by a pick-up truck Tuesday after falling from his moving bicycle on a dirt road outside of Glen Ellen. The child was taken to a Santa Rosa hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the slow-moving truck was reportedly the boy’s uncle. The accident, in which the rider was described as following behind the Chevy truck, then pulling ahead of it, occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Enterprise Road. The CHP said that although an investigation will continue, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Woman roughed up by laughing hooligans

A 60-year-old woman was shoved to the ground as she walked her dog near the corner of Patton and Second St. E. on May 5. She told police that about 8:30 p.m. a group of men in their twenties approached from behind and knocked her down. The victim, who sustained a black eye and swollen face, was unable to describe the assailants, but said she heard laughter as they disappeared into the impending darkness. A neighbor witnessed the assault but could not provide additional clues.

Attempted sexual assault thwarted

A masked man clad all in black attacked a woman as she walked along Boyes Blvd. at 10:30 p.m. on May 2. She physically resisted what the Sheriff’s Department categorized as an attempted sexual assault, and was able to fend-off the attack. The man fled on foot near the area of Greger and Orchard Lanes. Deputies canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect, who is described as 6’2” tall, muscular with a husky build. He was dressed in dark pants and hooded sweatshirt, and wore a black ski mask and gloves. Any person with information regarding the crime is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Unit at 565-7600.
