Caution – runners on the road

Once again, Sonoma’s Club Dave will take to the road this weekend, running from Calistoga to Santa Cruz to support organ donation. As part of The Relay footrace, which calls itself California’s longest party, the 12-member Club Dave team will run the 199-mile route from wine country to the Pacific Ocean starting on Saturday, April 30. This year’s team consists of the following runners: Team captains Dr. Janet Cain and husband, Dr. David Cain; Nancy Abila; Jennifer Anderson; Anne Brettschneider; Gary Carlsen; Debbie DeCarli; Cara Larimer; Michelle Tulley; Diana Mills; Anette Niewald; and Jody Purdom.

The team is indebted to its volunteers which include Tarja Hirvonen and James and Jane Patrick as well as to sponsors, the Finnish American Housing Association and the Joie de Vivre Hotels for hosting accommodations during the weekend-long run.

Team captain Janet Cain comes to The Relay straight from the Boston Marathon where she teamed up with fellow Sonoma runners Deb DeCarli, Bill Pollack, and Patti Koslovky, who ran her best marathon time ever.

Club Dave is dedicating this year’s Relay run to Henry Storck, a Valley youngster who passed away unexpectedly last month. Henry was able to give the gift of life to two people through the donation of his organs.
