Kids take contestants to school

Local notables may been the official contestants, but it was “the kids that stole the show,” said Laura Zimmerman of The Sonoma Valley Education Foundation’s “Are You Smarter Than a Sonoma Valley Fifth-Grader?” fundraiser.

The April 30 event raised about $15,000, said Zimmerman. “It was a good, fun night. We had a blast.” The format, like the TV show of the same name, had groups of 11-year-olds advising the panelists on the correct answers. Emerging victorious was Mike Bracco, a fitting winner for an education fundraiser, Zimmerman said, as he is a product of El Verano school and Sonoma Valley High.
