After surrendering nine runs in the bottom of the first to the top-ranked Petaluma Trojans it was all downhill for the Sonoma Lady Dragons softball team in an 18-2 loss last Tuesday in Petaluma.

The Lady Trojans built their lead to 13 before the Lady Dragons could plate a run, a feat they accomplished in the fourth inning when they scored both f their runs. The matchup of SCL leaders got out of control early for Sonoma, mainly due to Petaluma’s potent offense and six Lady Dragon errors.

Petaluma collected 20 hits to support their 15 runs and along the way struck out eight Dragon batters. Six Lady Dragons singled in the contest including Juliana Gutierez, Mia Stornetta, Kendal Ashe, Riley Ellis-Reis, Lindsey Rocha and Zoe Gaarder.

Megan McNeilly took the loss on the mound.
