Dragons vault into top spot in SCL behind Alton’s 2- hitter

Senior ace Sam Alton fired a complete-game two-hitter to down the El Molino Lions in Forestville last week to give the Dragons a share of the top spot in the SCL standings.

The offense broke out the lumber as well, handing the host Lions a 13-0 spanking to improve to 3-0 in the SCL standings, tied for the top spot with Petaluma.

After a scoreless first inning the Dragons pushed across a three-spot in the top of the second and added a pair of runs in the third and a lone run in the fifth before erupting for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for El Molino.

Alton struck out five and did not walk a batter in the win and needed just 72 pitches to secure the win.

Senior Sean Daly had a big day at the plate, going 3-4 with a double and four RBI. Juniors Will Rose and Chandler Kelley each had a pair of hits and the Dragons got singles from Michael Hernandez, Jonah Son, Steven McGunagle, Brennan Cole, Collin Clyde and Ryan Matteo.
Son and Cole each scored a pair of runs.
