Growing with Seeds of Learning

The ninety guests at Seeds of Learning’s 19th anniversary celebration were treated to stories from local volunteers as well as students from Sonoma Valley High School’s AVID program whose lives have been changed by their experiences in Latin America. As they gathered for a gourmet dinner prepared by Sonoma chef Kristi Hallamore Jeppesen and enjoyed local wines and more, guests heard first hand how SOL is working to improve educational opportunities throughout rural Latin America. Each year, SOL sends ten to 12 work groups of volunteers to Central America who spend between seven and 14 days working with communities to form relationships and explore each other’s cultures while erecting or improving a school building.

This year’s event raised just over $37,000, which will enable SOL to build two classrooms in El Salvador next year. For more information about Seeds of Learning, visit
